BROADWAY PERFORMERS APPEARING IN
ASBURY PARK THEATER COMPANY'S SPRING CABARET FUNDRAISER
AT HOUSE OF INDEPENDENTS
NYC Performers Bernard Dotson, Gina Kreiezmar, Kevin B. McGlynn and Jeanne Montano will be featured in this one night event to raise funds for APTCo’s 21/22 Season
ASBURY PARK, N.J. (April 15, 2021) – After a historic shutdown of all live shows and events over the past year due to COVID-19, Asbury Park Theater Company (APTCo) has been cleared to present their Spring Cabaret Fundraiser at House of Independents. Rest assured that the producers and presenters of the event are taking extra measures to ensure complete compliance of all CDC regulations to keep everyone attending this event comfortable and safe.
“Even though this pandemic halted the launch of our inaugural season, we still have a mission to produce invigorating theater. Whether it be in the form of original works, reimagining the classics or creating provocative, high-energy musical performances, our projects will delight audiences of all kinds,” said William Whitefield, Producing Artistic Director of APTCo. “This event will be a chance to encourage patrons who are ready, to start attending live shows again, and to raise some much needed funds for our 21/22 season.”
APTCo’s Spring Cabaret Fundraiser will be held at House of Independents on Friday, May 14 and will include hilarious material from various Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. APTCo is thrilled to have secured performances by Bernard Dotson, Gina Kreiezmar, Kevin B. McGlynn and Jeanne Montano. On the piano will be world-renowned pianist and composer David Caldwell.
“Being so close to New York City gives us the great advantage of bringing in some wonderfully talented performers,” added Serena Soffer, APTCo’s Associate Producer and former Broadway performer who now resides in Asbury Park. “It’s really a tight knit community that really comes out to support each other when they can. And these folks are funny!”
Bernard Dotson is no stranger to the professional stage. He has appeared on Broadway in Finian's Rainbow, Chicago, Imaginary Friends starring Swoosie Kurts and Cherry Jones, Sweet Smell Of Success starring John Lithgow, Jesus Christ Superstar and the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime. He now resides in Asbury Park.
Gina Kreiezmar has been a part of the Forbidden Broadway phenomenon since 1992, performing both Forbidden Broadway and Forbidden Hollywood in NYC, the US, Singapore, Japan, South Africa and parts of South America. She has also performed several versions of this show with orchestras and symphonies nationally.
Another Forbidden Broadway alum, Kevin B. McGlynn will be displaying his comedy chops at the event. Mr. McGlynn has also been seen in the Broadway National Tours of All Shook Up and Kiss Me Kate.
Jeanne Montano, an Asbury Park resident and former Broadway performer will be rounding out the list of professional entertainers for the evening. She was in the Broadway production of Cats and was featured in Forbidden Broadway as well.
Pianist David Caldwell composed music and lyrics for All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten and Uh-Oh Here Comes Christmas, both based on the writing of Robert Fulghum. He also composed music for Fulghum's novel Third Wish. His musical Gotta Getta Girl, with lyrics and book by Peter Charles Morris, will soon be produced in New York. David was the music director of Forbidden Broadway from 2004 to 2014. He conducted the American premiere of Stephen Schwartz's Children of Eden. He recently music directed Murder For Two Off- Broadway.
Also performing will be four students who have attended singing and acting classes virtually with Producing Artistic Director William Whitefield. Up and coming performers Grace Allison, Connor Closs, Siobhan Jones and Alexis Lombardo will perform songs from current and past Broadway shows.
Those attending the pre-show reception will get a special performance by Maya Burrage-Nasr, Keira Raine Jackson, Makenna Miceli and Katherine Grace Salerno, all students of Dance Attitude New Jersey.
“This cabaret is very important to us and we are so happy to be working with Morgan Sackman of House of Independents to produce this event. They have been working hard to prepare the space for shows that can be presented safely,” says Whitefield.

APTCo’s Spring Cabaret Fundraiser will be performed on Friday, May 14 at 8pm at House of Independents, 572 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park. General admission tickets are $50 and VIP tickets which include entrance to a 7pm pre-performance reception with appetizers and a free drink are $100.
